Dandelion Seeds — Impact Without a Map
Capture
Ben is the plant. Seeds blow freely — no tracking, no map, no accounting for where they land. The ones that take root become plants in their own right and blow their own seeds.
The impact will never be known. That is the point. As long as it happens, it counts.
Why
The proof is already in. Ben's kids encountered YY and built their own uninhibited YY spinoffs that they own outright. Ben doesn't govern their versions. He lets them grow uninhibited and encourages it. That is the magic of YY in them — dandelion seeds that took root, became plants, and are already producing.
The dandelion model works because it requires nothing in return. A seed doesn't check back with the plant. It just grows where the conditions are right. The same logic applies: YY's World seeds blow wherever kids find it. The ones hardy enough to take root will.
There is no map because a map would require a destination, which would require a motive beyond impact itself. Tracking impact would create the optimization pressure that turns the seed into a product. The dandelion doesn't optimize its seeds for the highest-probability soil.
Why-Not
Why not track reach, downloads, or visits? Tracking reach creates a feedback loop that shapes content toward what gets tracked. The dandelion model requires no feedback loop. The seeds blow; some take root; no accounting needed. Introducing analytics would begin converting this into a product with metrics, which is the opposite of the founding intent.
Why not create community or feedback channels? A community would funnel the seeds back to the plant. The model requires the seeds to be independent — capable of becoming plants on their own, not stay-connected-to-the-root. A community would create governance pressure. The operator does not want to govern YY spinoffs any more than he governs his kids' versions.
Why not think of it as a pipeline to the professional method? The pipeline exists as a byproduct, not as a design. The free first, structured later, by choice model means the professional method is one possible destination among many — not the target. Treating it as a pipeline would reverse-engineer the content toward conversion.
Commit
Decision: Dandelion seeds. Impact without a map. Seeds blow, some take root, some become plants. AI multiplies this only when the soil and seed are both already strong.
Confidence: High — already proven on kids who own their YY spinoffs outright.
